Sports Massage
Sports massage benefits athletes, those who are physically active (such as gym goers) or even those that are sat at their desk all day long. Simply put, it is for EVERYONE. It incorporates massage techniques, trigger point work, muscle energy techniques and soft tissue release to provide a deep and rehabilitating process that manipulates the soft tissue to prevent injury, aid in injury rehabilitation, alleviate muscle or tendon pain or get rid any stress they are holding on to. A sports massage experience will vary from person to person depending on what their injuries or aggravations are. Despite what many people think, Sports Massage should not be a painful experience. It all depends what you are looking to get from the therapy and communication will always be maintained to gauge comfort levels.

More About Sports Massage....
Sports Massage for the athlete/performance:
4 categories: Pre-Event – Designed to stimulate, this massage will focus on the areas of the body that will be exerted during the activity. Typically given 15-45 minutes before the event but can be good in the days running up to event. Post Event – Best received within 2 hours of undertaking the activity, but good for recovery in the days following an event or performance as it aids the tissues to normalise. Restorative – Often received regularly whilst training for an event or for those looking to improve their personal bests and train harder. Restorative sports massage works to enable further training by preventing injury. Rehabilitative – Serves to alleviate pain from an injury and return the affected tissue to normal. |
Sports massage for the active and the sedentary:
In every day life, through every day activities we can build tension in our muscles. And yes, sitting for long periods of time, like at your desk or driving causes lots tension and weaknesses too. In fact most injuries are caused by silly every day tasks than by taking part in physically activity. This can be due to being our bodies being already tight and/or having weaknesses in our muscles. A sports massage can relieve ailments, restore mobility, manage and aid injury recovery, relieve muscle tension and knots, improve circulation and help with relaxation. |
